What is Comprehensive Car Insurance?
|
|
|
|
Comprehensive car insurance is
generally the more heavy-handed type of car
insurance policy. A comprehensive car
insurance policy covers your vehicle
against loss due to theft, damage caused by
a car accident, explosions, falling objects
(from trucks or buildings) explosions, riot
damage, etc.
Ultimately, comprehensive car insurance is a
nice to have. If you use your car for doing
business or deliveries, it would make sense
to take out a car insurance policy that
would provide full coverage – especially if
your car is often parked on the street in
busy or dangerous areas. However,
comprehensive car insurance is expensive. If
you cannot afford a comprehensive policy,
you still have the option to increase your
cover on a personal policy, or to get
business insurance cover for work purposes.
On the contrary, however, if you don’t use
your car for business, and you don’t ever
park it on the road, you can safely assume
that you don’t need comprehensive insurance
cover. Accidents do happen, however, and it
is better to be over-insured than
under-insured.
Contacting a number of car insurance
companies for quotes on comprehensive car
insurance policies will give you an
indication of what’s on offer. Should these
car insurance policy premiums prove
too costly, you can also investigate
business usage insurance or a number of
personal car insurance policies featuring
lower coverage. Remember: The best
insurance policy is usually not the very
cheapest one! Finding a balance between the
benefits of a comprehensive car insurance
policy and affordable personal insurance
cover is advisable, yet make sure that you
don’t end up being under-insured! |
